Babies’ room progress
Big progress: the babies’ room is no longer a repository for all the stuff we weren’t really sure where to put during the move! As comfy (and practical! and frugal!) as I thought it might be for the twins to sleep in U-Haul boxes filled with clothes labeled “second string/sentimental”), we’ve cleared out just about everything that isn’t baby-related. I threw caution to the winds and helped Matt paint (don’t worry, I held my breath the whole time).
I think we managed to pick a color that traditionalists will think is inappropriate for boys OR girls (too purple for a boy, too blue for a girl). We like it, though.
We also were lucky enough to secure free delivery from IKEA in the form of Matt’s sister Rachel and her girlfriend Liz, who generously agreed to procure two Hensvik cribs from their local store once we determined that our store would next have them in stock around the time the twins started middle school. Not only did they go to the store, bring them up to Providence, and help us assemble them, but they even gave one to us as their gift. We promised them that once the babies got here we’d figure out which one was their favorite and make sure that one always slept in “their” crib.
There’s much more to be done, of course: other furniture, decorating, and perhaps even some mattresses for the cribs. (I’m not sure about that last one, though — we wouldn’t want the babies to be spoiled.) Still, it’s exciting to see the progress!
