Taking a Stand

May 19th, 2009 by rachel

When Eloise learned to sit up on her own, she became a much more content baby…for a while. Now nothing except standing will do. Of course, holding a baby in a standing position all day sort of interferes with any other activity I might feel would be worthwhile (attending to the baby’s brother, or using the restroom, or other similar frivolities), so I decided to see how long she could stand at this kitchen stool. A long time, it turns out. Go Eloise!

Unrelated: When we get behind on pictures, we back-date them when we finally post them, which means they get buried under any non-picture posts we might have written in the interim. So if you want to be sure not to miss a single priceless image, be sure to scroll down a bit. Recent shots include Eloise modeling a little cotton dress that I knit when I was pregnant (and when I was sure I was having two boys, incidentally — don’t ask me to explain that one).

The smile at the end is a killer. It *is* impressive! Well done, Eloise :) I’ll see you soon.

I love how she talks to you when you speak to her. She is so adorable (and your hula comment had me laughing out loud).

Must go and watch it again.

i remember the please-stand-me-up days… (except there wasn’t really a “please” involved.) (oh yeah, and i called it, “let’s get erect”… um, meghal hated that.) it’s seems so long ago. anyway, eventually he started standing himself up on things, which might seem like it would be less work for you, but it’s not because there’s more falling and their desire to find the least stable item in the vicinity to stand with. i don’t know if this will apply for you, but avi was wearing socks a lot then, so his traction was awful. we got him some shoes that had traction on the toes so going from his knees to standing was slightly less precarious. good luck.

Yes, it *is* impressive! At 7 months, one of my guys was just starting to roll over!! Of course, he was impeded by a head the size of Montana.

Love this video so much. She is just so precious. That grin at the end kills me.
